The result was a sort of 'Gresham's Law', let's call it Gresham's Dynamic, in which the bad behaving people force out the good. For example, steroid users in sport or even irresponsible credit ratings agencies...like what happened with sub-prime loans from 2003-7 which were rated AAA for inclusion in securitised mortgages when not worth that and so they eventually blew-up in 2007 to cause the Great Financial Crisis, second only to the Great Depression in world-wide financial damage. The credit rating agency, Moody's rationalised their involvement in 2007 by saying, '[I]t was a slippery slope. What happened in '04 and '05 with respect to subordinated tranches [of sub-prime debt for mortgage securitisations] is ... our competition, Fitch and S&P, went nuts. Everything was investment grade. We lost 50% of our coverage [business share]...[and therefore to stay in business they had to do it too, so as Gresham's dynamic states bad pushes out good, there's a race to the bottom - to be the least ethical and responsible].'
